RESUMO

AIM: Atherosclerosis remains the pathological basis of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. Early and accurate identification of plauqes is crucial to improve clinical outcomes of atherosclerosis patients. Our study aims to evaluate the potential value of fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI)-04 PET/CT in identifying plaques via a preclinical rabbit model of atherosclerosis. METHODS: New Zealand white rabbits were fed high-fat diet (HFD), and randomly divided into the model group injured by the balloon, and the sham group only with incisions. Ultrasound was performed to detect plaques, and FAPI-avid was determined through Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT. Mean standardized uptake values (SUVmean) in lesions were compared, and biodistribution of Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 and target-to-background ratios (TBRs) were calculated. Histological staining was performed to display arterial plaques, and autoradiography (ARG) was employed to measure the in vitro intensity of Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04. At last, the correlation among FAP levels, plaque area, SUVmean values and fibrous cap thickness was assessed. RESULTS: The rabbit carotid and abdominal atherosclerosis model was established. Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 showed a higher uptake in carotid plaques (SUVmean 1.32 ± 0.11) and abdominal plaques (SUVmean 0.73 ± 0.13) compared to corresponding controls (SUVmean 1.07 ± 0.06; 0.46 ± 0.03) (P < 0.05). Biodistribution analysis of Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 revealed that the bigger plaques were delineated with higher TBRs. Pathological staining showed the formation of arterial plaques, and ARG staining exhibited a higher intensity of Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 in the bigger plaques. Lastly, plaque area was found to be positively correlated to FAP expression and SUVmean, while FAP expression was negatively correlated to fibrous cap thickness of plaques. CONCLUSIONS: We successfully achieve molecular imaging of fibroblast activation in atherosclerotic lesions of rabbits, suggesting Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT may be a potentially valuable tool to identify plaques.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In cancer biology, circRAD18 promotes glucose metabolism, potentially indicating its involvement in glucose metabolism-related disorders, such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The present study investigated the predictive role of circRAD18 in GDM and its potential adverse effects. METHODS: A total of 482 women who intended to get pregnant in short-term were enrolled. For those who successfully conceived, plasma samples were collected and followed up until delivery to monitor the occurrence of GDM and its associated adverse events. The accumulation of circRAD18 in plasma was analyzed using RT-qPCR. GDM-free curves and ROC curves were plotted to assess the predictive value of plasma circRAD18 for GDM. RESULTS: After admitting 482 female patients, 388 of them achieved pregnancy within half a year. During the follow-up period, 52 cases were diagnosed with GDM. Compared to non-GDM group (n = 336), the GDM group (n = 52) had a lower accumulation level of circRAD18 on the day of pregnancy confirmation. In addition, low levels of circRAD18 accumulation on that day distinguished potential GDM patients from non-GDM cases. The 388 cases were divided into high and low circRAD18 level groups (n = 194). GDM-free curve analysis showed that patients in the low circRAD18 level group had a higher incidence of GDM compared to the high level group (43/194 vs. 9/194). A close association was found between low levels of plasma circRAD18 and hypertension, but not premature delivery, intrauterine death, malformation, intrauterine infection, miscarriage, macrosomia or intrauterine distress. CONCLUSION: The reduction in the accumulation of plasma circRAD18 is predictive of GDM and hypertension in pregnant women.

RESUMO

The development of sustainable and anti-poisoning single-atom catalysts (SACs) is essential for advancing their research from laboratory to industry. Here, we present a proof-of-concept study on the poisoning of Au SACs, and the antidote of Au nanoparticles (NPs), with trace addition shown to reinforce and sustain propylene epoxidation. Multiple characterizations, kinetics investigations, and multiscale simulations reveal that Au SACs display remarkable epoxidation activity at a low propylene coverage, but become poisoned at higher coverages. Interestingly, Au NPs can synergistically cooperate with Au SACs by providing distinct active sites required for H2/O2 and C3H6 activations, as well as hydroperoxyl radical to restore poisoned SACs. The difference in reaction order between C3H6 and H2 (nC3H6-nH2) is identified as the descriptor for establishing the volcano curves, which can be fine-tuned by the intimacy and composition of SACs and NPs to achieve a rate-matching scenario for the formation, transfer, and consumption of hydroperoxyl. Consequently, only trace addition of Au NPs antidote (0.3% ratio of SACs) stimulates significant improvements in propylene oxide formation rate, selectivity, and H2 efficiency compared to SACs alone, offering a 56-fold, 3-fold, and 22-fold increase, respectively, whose performances can be maintained for 150 h.

RESUMO

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are widely used as important ingredients for other nitrogen-containing molecules. Here, we report the sustainable production of amino acids from biomass-derived hydroxy acids with high activity under visible-light irradiation and mild conditions, using atomic ruthenium-promoted cadmium sulfide (Ru1/CdS). On a metal basis, the optimized Ru1/CdS exhibits a maximal alanine formation rate of 26.0 molAla·gRu1·h1, which is 1.7 times and more than two orders of magnitude higher than that of its nanoparticle counterpart and the conventional thermocatalytic process, respectively. Integrated spectroscopic analysis and density functional theory calculations attribute the high performance of Ru1/CdS to the facilitated charge separation and O-H bond dissociation of the a-hydroxy group, here of lactic acid. The operando nuclear magnetic resonance further infers a unique "double activation" mechanism of both the CH-OH and CH3-CH-OH structures in lactic acid, which significantly accelerates its photocatalytic amination toward alanine.

RESUMO

Photocatalytic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) oxidation systems demonstrate significant potential and promising prospects through the interconnection of photocatalytic and PMS oxidation for simultaneously achieving efficient pollutant removal and reduction of PMS dosage, which prevents resource wastage and secondary pollution. In this study, a Z-scheme Bi25FeO40/BiOCl (BOFC) heterojunction was constructed to carry out the photocatalytic PMS oxidation process for tetracyclines (TCs) pollutants at low PMS concentrations (0.08 mM). The photocatalytic PMS oxidation rate of Bi25FeO40/BiOCl composites for tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), chlortetracycline (CTC), oxytetracycline (OTC) and doxycycline (DXC) reaches 86.6%, 83.6%, 86.7%, and 88.0% within 120 min. Simultaneously, the BOFC/PMS system under visible light (Vis) equally displayed the practical application prospects for the solo and mixed simulated TCs antibiotics wastewater. Based on the electron spin resonance (ESR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) valence band spectrum, a Z-scheme electron migration pathway was proposed to elucidate the mechanism underlying the performance enhancement of BOFC composites. Bi25FeO40 in BOFC composites can serve as active site for activating PMS by the formation of Fe3+/Fe2+ cycle. Toxicity estimation software tool (T.E.S.T.) and mung beans planting experiment demonstrates that BOFC/PMS/Vis system can reduce toxicity of TCs wastewater. Therefore, BOFC/PMS/Vis system achieves efficient examination in different water environments and efficient utilization of PMS, which displays a scientific reference for achieving environmentally-friendly and resource-saving handling processes.

RESUMO

Single cell cloning is a critical step for cell line development (CLD) for therapeutic protein production, with proof of monoclonality being compulsorily sought in regulatory filings. Among the different single cell deposition technologies, we found that fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) offers high probability of monoclonality and can allow selective enrichment of the producer cells. However, FACS instruments are expensive and resource-intensive, have a large footprint, require highly skilled operators and take hours for setup, thereby complicating the cell line generation process. With the aim of finding an easy-to-use alternative to FACS, we identified a flow cytometry-based microfluidic cell dispenser, which presents a single cell sorting solution for biopharmaceutical CLD. The microfluidic cell dispenser is small, budget-friendly, easy-to-use, requires lower-cost consumables, permits flow cytometry-enabled multiparametric target cell enrichment and offers fast and gentle single cell dispensing into multiwell plates. Following comprehensive evaluation, we found that single cell deposition by the microfluidic cell dispenser resulted in >99% probability of monoclonality for production cell lines. Moreover, the clonally derived producer cell lines generated from the microfluidic cell dispenser demonstrated comparable or improved growth profiles and production capability compared to the FACS derived cell lines. Taken together, microfluidic cell dispensing can serve as a cost-effective, efficient and convenient alternative to FACS, simplifying the biopharmaceutical CLD platform with significant reductions in both scientist time and running costs.

RESUMO

Electrosynthesis coupled hydrogen production (ESHP) mostly involves catalyst reconstruction in aqueous phase, but accurately identifying and controlling the process is still a challenge. Herein, we modulated the electronic structure and exposed unsaturated sites of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) via ligand defect to promote the reconstruction of catalyst for azo electrosynthesis (ESA) coupled with hydrogen production overall reaction. The monolayer Ni-MOFs achieved 89.8 % Faraday efficiency and 90.8 % selectivity for the electrooxidation of 1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-amine (Pyr-NH2) to azo, and an 18.5-fold increase in H2 production compared to overall water splitting. Operando X-ray absorption fine spectroscopy (XAFS) and various in situ spectroscopy confirm that the ligand defect promotes the potential dependent dynamic reconstruction of Ni(OH)2 and NiOOH, and the reabsorption of ligand significantly lowers the energy barrier of rate-determining step (*Pyr-NH to *Pyr-N). This work provides theoretical guidance for modulation of electrocatalyst reconstruction to achieve highly selective ESHP.

RESUMO

SYAUP-491 is a novel alkyl sulfonamide. In this study, in vivo and in vitro tests were performed along with a proteomic analysis to determine the effects and underlying mechanisms of the antibacterial activity of SYAUP-491 against the causative agent of bacterial leaf blight in rice. The antibacterial test results suggested that SYAUP-491 exhibited significant activities against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) in vitro and in vivo. The minimal EC50 values reached 6.96 µg/mL and the curative activity reached 74.1%. Detailed studies demonstrated that SYAUP-491 altered membrane permeability and caused morphological changes. Based on proteomics results, SYAUP-491 might inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. SYAUP-491 may disrupt and alter cell membrane permeability and could further act on ribosomes in the bacterial body. Given the above results, SYAUP-491 could serve as a new lead compound in the research of antibacterial control of plant pathogenic bacterial disease.

RESUMO

Age-associated decreases in follicle number and oocyte quality result in a decline in female fertility, which is associated with increased infertility. Granulosa cells play a major role in oocyte development and maturation both in vivo and in vitro. However, it is unclear whether a reduction in cryptochrome 1 (Cry1) expression contributes to granulosa cell senescence, and further exploration is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms. In this study, we investigated the role of Cry1, a core component of the molecular circadian clock, in the regulation of senescence in ovarian granulosa cells. Western blotting and qRT-PCR showed that Cry1 expression was downregulated in aged human ovarian granulosa cells and was correlated with age and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels. RNA-seq analysis suggested that ferritinophagy was increased after Cry1 knockdown in KGN cells. MDA, iron, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) assays were used to detect cellular ferritinophagy levels. Ferroptosis inhibitors, iron chelators, autophagy inhibitors, and nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4) knockdown alleviated KGN cell senescence induced by Cry1 knockdown. Immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, and ubiquitination assays indicated that Cry1 affected NCOA4 ubiquitination and degradation through HERC2, thereby affecting NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy and causing granulosa cell senescence. KL201, a Cry1 stabilizer, enhanced ovarian function in naturally aged mice by reducing ferritinophagy. Our study reveals the potential mechanisms of action of Cry1 during ovarian aging and provides new insights for the clinical treatment of age-related fertility decline.

RESUMO

Phase separation inside mammalian cells regulates the formation of the biomolecular condensates that are related to gene expression, signalling, development and disease. However, a large population of endogenous condensates and their candidate phase-separating proteins have yet to be discovered in a quantitative and high-throughput manner. Here we demonstrate that endogenously expressed biomolecular condensates can be identified across a cell's proteome by sorting proteins across varying oligomeric states. We employ volumetric compression to modulate the concentrations of intracellular proteins and the degree of crowdedness, which are physical regulators of cellular biomolecular condensates. The changes in degree of the partition of proteins into condensates or phase separation led to varying oligomeric states of the proteins, which can be detected by coupling density gradient ultracentrifugation and quantitative mass spectrometry. In total, we identified 1,518 endogenous condensate proteins, of which 538 have not been reported before. Furthermore, we demonstrate that our strategy can identify condensate proteins that respond to specific biological processes.

RESUMO

Modification and functionalization of porous aromatic framework (PAF) materials have emerged as crucial research directions in various fields. In this study, we employed a hydrothermal method to synthesize a carbon quantum dots (CQDs) solution. By loading different amounts of CQDs onto the surface of PAF-45 material through ultrasonic and hydrothermal treatments, we successfully formed CQDs/PAF-45 composite materials. The introduction of CQDs effectively transformed the hydrophobic nature of PAF-45 into a hydrophilic material, thereby overcoming the challenge of achieving efficient contact between PAF catalysts and reactants in aqueous solutions. In the photocatalytic degradation experiments of Rhodamine B (RhB), tetracycline, CQDs/PAF-45 composite materials surpassed that of the pristine PAF-45 material. Notably, the 1 wt% CQDs/PAF-45 composite material exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, with degradation efficiencies for Rhodamine B, tetracycline, and phenol approximately 1.4 times, 1.5 times and 1.5 times higher than those of the PAF-45 material, respectively.

RESUMO

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease in geriatric rehabilitation medicine caused by the progressive destruction of articular cartilage. Traditional Chinese exercise (TCE) is an important component of traditional sports in China and aims to stretch the musculoskeletal tract and relieve joint pain. Bibliometrics can help researchers find suitable partners and understand the research hotspots and trends in a certain field. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis in the field of TCE and OA. Methods: All the literature was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The last search was performed on July 28, 2023. The bibliometric indicators, such as publications, citations, and H-index, were recorded. Bibliometrix and CiteSpace were used for visualization analysis. In addition, randomized controlled trials were included to summarize the exercise prescription of TCE for OA. Results: A total of 170 articles were included. The field of OA with TCE had great development potential and was in the rising period. The countries, institutions, and authors with the most publications were the United States, Tufts Medical Center, and Harvey WF, respectively. The most popular journal was Osteoarthritis and Cartilage. The recent burst keywords in this field were mainly "hip", "pilot", and "risk". Tai Chi was the most studied TCE with the most detailed content of exercise prescription, followed by Baduanjin and Wuqinxi. Conclusion: Our study provides a basis for researchers in this field to choose appropriate partner and academic journals. Moreover, pain, muscle strength, and quality of life management of elderly OA patients are research hotspots in this field. The intervention of hip OA risk through TCE is expected to become a research direction for emerging teams. The TCE prescription we summarized can better provide researchers with more treatment details.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Reducing avoidable hospital admissions is a global healthcare priority, with optimal primary care recognised as pivotal for achieving this objective. However, in developing systems like China, where primary care is evolving without compulsory gatekeeping, the relationship between patient-perceived primary care quality and hospital utilisation remains underexplored. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to explore the association between patient-perceived primary care quality and self-reported hospital utilisation in China. METHODS: Data were collected from 16 primary care settings. Patient-perceived quality of primary care was measured using the Assessment Survey of Primary Care scale across six domains (first-contact care, continuity, comprehensiveness, accessibility, coordination, and patient-centredness). Hospital utilisation included patient self-reported outpatient visits, hospital admissions, and emergency department (ED) visits in the last six months. Logistic regression analyses were examined associations between self-reported hospital utilisation and perceived primary care quality adjusted for potential confounders. RESULTS: Of 1,185 patients recruited, 398 (33.6%) reported hospital utilisation. Logistic regression analyses showed that higher total scores for patient-perceived quality of primary care were associated with decreased odds of hospital utilisation (adjusted odds ratio(AOR): 0.417, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.308-0.565), outpatient visits (AOR: 0.394, 95% CI: 0.275-0.566) and hospital admissions (AOR: 0.496, 95% CI: 0.276-0.891). However, continuity of care was positively associated with ED visits (AOR: 2.252, 95% CI: 1.051-4.825). CONCLUSION: Enhanced patient-perceived quality of primary care in China is associated with a reduction in self-reported overall hospital utilisation, including outpatient visits and hospital admissions. However, better continuity of care may be associated with increased ED visits. Further research is warranted for precise insights and validation of these findings.

Improved patient-perceived primary care quality in China was linked to lower self-reported hospital utilisation, including outpatient visits and hospital admissions.Better primary care accessibility was associated with decreased self-reported emergency department visits and outpatient visits.Continuity of care showed a positive association with emergency department visits, warranting further research.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To provide insight into the biological characteristics of the healthy cervix by defining intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) parameters across the menstrual cycle. METHODS: Forty-three females of reproductive age (18-45 years old) were included in this prospective study. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and IVIM-DWI scans were performed at multiple time-points across the menstrual cycle: T1 (menses), T2 (follicular phase), T3 (luteal phase). Intra- and interobserver repeatability of the IVIM-DWI values were evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), and D* was excluded from the analyses due to poor repeatability. Differences in each IVIM-DWI parameter among T1, T2, and T3 were explored. Subjects were stratified by age and parity for subgroup analyses (younger [18 - < 30 years] vs. older [≥30-45 years]; parity 0 vs. parity 1 and 2). Correlations between subject age and IVIM-DWI parameters were assessed. The overlap for each IVIM-DWI parameter among T1, T2, and T3 was evaluated. RESULTS: ADC and D values of the cervix were significantly lower at T3 compared with T1 (p = 0.02 and 0.03) or T2 (p < 0.01 and < 0.01). In younger subjects (n = 26), ADC and D values were significantly lower at T3 compared with T1 (p < 0.01 and p = 0.02) or T2 (p = 0.03 and p = 0.04). In older subjects (n = 17), ADC values were significantly higher at T2 compared with T1 (p = 0.01) or T3 (p = 0.01). There were significant differences in ADC values at T1 in subgroup analyses stratified by age and parity (both p < 0.01). There was a moderate correlation between age and ADC values at T1. Overlap for IVIM-DWI parameters across the menstrual cycle was >50%. CONCLUSION: ADC and D values of the heathy cervix differed across the menstrual cycle. Age and parity may influence the ADC value.

RESUMO

Stroke is a prevalent cerebrovascular condition with a global impact, causing significant rates of illness and death. Despite extensive research, the available treatment options for stroke remain restricted. Hence, it is crucial to gain a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms associated with the onset and advancement of stroke in order to establish a theoretical foundation for novel preventive and therapeutic approaches. NF-κB, also known as nuclear factor κB, is a transcription factor responsible for controlling the expression of numerous genes and plays a crucial role in diverse physiological processes. NF-κB is triggered and regulates neuroinflammation and other processes after stroke, promoting the generation of cytokine storms and contributing to the advancement of ischemic stroke (IS). Therefore, NF-κB could potentially play a vital role in stroke by regulating diverse pathophysiological processes. This review provides an overview of the functions of NF-κB in stroke and its governing mechanisms. In addition, our attention is directed towards various potential therapies that aim to inhibit the NF-κB signaling pathway in order to offer valuable insights for the advancement of innovative treatment approaches for stroke.

RESUMO

Determination of antiepileptic drugs and antipsychotics in human serum is significant in individualized drug administration and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). In this study, we developed a rapid label-free TDM method for the antiepileptic drug carbamazepine (CBZ) and the antipsychotic clozapine (CLO) in human serum. This detection strategy is based on the combination of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). Initially, Fe3O4@SiO2@MIL-101(Fe) nanocomposites were synthesized by the layer-by-layer self-assembly method and characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, ultraviolet-visible, and Fourier transform infrared analyses. Subsequently, CBZ and CLO were detected in human serum using Fe3O4@SiO2@MIL-101(Fe) as the solid-phase extraction adsorbent and Ag nanoparticles as SERS substrates. The potential of the MSPE-SERS method for the label-free TDM of CBZ and CLO was then investigated. Fe3O4@SiO2@MIL-101(Fe) prevents magnetic particle aggregation and demonstrates rapid magnetic separation capability that simplifies the pretreatment process and reduces interference from complex matrices. Its large surface area can effectively enrich targets in complex matrices, thereby improving the SERS detection sensitivity. The linearity between CBZ and CLO was excellent over the concentration range of 0.1-100 µg/mL (calculated as the intensity of the SERS characteristic peaks of CBZ and CLO at 728 cm and 1054 cm-1, respectively), with correlation coefficients (R2) of 0.9987 and 0.9957, and detection limits of 0.072 and 0.12 µg/mL, respectively. The recoveries of CBZ with CLO ranged from 94.0 % to 105.0 %, and their relative standard deviations were <6.8 %. Compared to other assays, the developed MSPE-SERS method has the advantages of simple sample pretreatment, rapid detection, and good reproducibility, which provides a novel approach for the TDM of other drugs.

RESUMO

Circularly polarized light (CPL) detection has wide applications in many fields, where the anisotropy factor (gIph ) is an important indicator to characterize the CPL detection performance. So far, many materials with high gIph have been reported, however, the exploration of the regulation of gIph is still in its infancy. Herein, two novel alternating chiral-achiral cations intercalation-type chiral hybrid perovskites (CHPs), named (R/S-1-phenylpropylamine)(propylamine)PbBr4 (1-R/S), exhibit above room-temperature (RT) polar-phase transition, which greatly regulates the gIph value. The gIph of 1-R is 0.04 in high-temperature phase chiral non-polar (P21 21 21 ) by applying 5 V bias, interestingly, with the temperature decrease, the gIph value in low-temperature phase chiral polar (P21 ) gradually increases (0.22@360K, 0.40@340K, 0.47@320K), and finally reaches a maximum of 0.5 at RT. Such value is not only the highest among 2D CHPs to date, but presents a 12.5-fold amplification compared with 0.04. Further, this rare phenomenon should be attributed to the built-in electric field induced by the polar photovoltaic effect, which sheds light on further obtaining CHPs with large gIph .

RESUMO

Copper nanoparticle-based catalysts have been extensively applied in industry, but the nanoparticles tend to sinter into larger ones in the chemical atmospheres, which is detrimental to catalyst performance. In this work, we used dealuminated Beta zeolite to support copper nanoparticles (Cu/Beta-deAl) and showed that these particles become smaller in methanol vapor at 200°C, decreasing from ~5.6 to ~2.4 nanometers in diameter, which is opposite to the general sintering phenomenon. A reverse ripening process was discovered, whereby migratable copper sites activated by methanol were trapped by silanol nests and the copper species in the nests acted as new nucleation sites for the formation of small nanoparticles. This feature reversed the general sintering channel, resulting in robust catalysts for dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation performed with supported copper nanoparticles for use in industry.

RESUMO

Polarization photodetection taking advantage of the anisotropy of 2D materials shines brilliantly in optoelectronic fields owing to differentiating optical information. However, the previously reported polarization detections are mostly dependent on external power sources, which is not conducive to device integration and energy conservation. Herein, a 2D polar perovskite (CBA)2 CsPb2 Br7 (CCPB, CBA = 4-chlorobenzyllamine) has been successfully synthesized, which shows anticipated bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) with an open-circuited photovoltage up to ≈0.2 V. Devices based on CCPB monomorph fulfill a fascinating self-powered polarized photodetection with a large polarization ratio of 2.7 at room temperature. Moreover, CCPB features a high phase-transition temperature (≈475 K) which prompts such self-powered polarized photodetection in a large temperature window of device operation, since BPVE generated by spontaneous polarization can only exist in the polar structure prior to the phase transition. Further computational investigation reveals the introduction of CBA+ with a large dipole moment contributes to quite large polarization (17.5 µC cm-2 ) and further super high phase transition temperature of CCPB. This study will promote the application of 2D perovskite materials for self-powered polarized photodetection in high-temperature conditions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a rare immune-mediated demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS). There is a lack of reports of sick sinus syndrome (SSS) associated with NMOSD; thus, we hereby report two cases of patients with NMOSD who developed SSS. CASES PRESENTATION: The patients were both male and presented with area postrema syndrome. Brain MRI showed lesions in the dorsal part of their medulla oblongata. They were diagnosed with NMOSD when aquaporin-4 antibodies were found in their serum. Slow heart rates and several episodes of syncope were also observed in case 1 during hospitalization, while Holter monitoring showed sinus pauses (10-11 s) and SSS was diagnosed. A pacemaker was fitted. Case 2 had a respiratory arrest followed by a subsequent cardiac arrest. He was successfully resuscitated with epinephrine injection and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Through immunotherapy, their neurological functions became stable and heart rate and blood pressure returned to the baseline. CONCLUSIONS: Since sick sinus syndrome is a life-threatening complication, serious heart arrhythmias should be considered as a potential result of area postrema syndrome associated with NMOSD.
